When you open a universal saving or current account with V Bank, you can immediately request for a Verified V debit card so long that account is funded. V card is useful for making withdrawals and deposits, transfer funds between accounts, and checking account balances. It is also useful for making purchases online and at most retail stores.
Imagine, you’re on your way to a friend’s house for a birthday party and your wife or the girlfriend calls you on your mobile, telling you about a pair of beautiful shoes she wants to buy from a nearby boutique. Turns out she doesn’t have enough cash on her at that moment and needs you to make it up for her. Says N4,000 to be precise!
Tactfully, you tell her that you aren’t sure if you have enough cash in your bank account and your mobile internet service provider has been erratic so you can’t even log into your banking app. She confirms which of your friends you’re visiting again and reminds you of the fuel station along the way where ATMs are. Smart that she is, she reminds you that you can check for your account balances using your V card from V Bank. Do you feel caught?
Of course, you can always lie to her that there isn’t enough cash. But because you are too principled to lie, you follow her advice and stop at the said ATM point, insert your V card, and punch in your Personal Identification Number (PIN), select view account balance, and alas you find that you have enough money in your account (not that you didn’t know all along).
Without a second thought, you transfer the money to her account while withdrawing some cash ‘for the road.’ Then you wonder if you should have headed for the party in the first place. Why not buy shawarma on the way back and go have some drinks with her? Sounds like a plan. Well, that tiny, verified plastic in your wallet can do much more than that for you.
- Transfer money between accounts
Supposing you have accounts with different banks, say, Y Bank and V Bank. If you must use bank Y’s account for a purpose and require funding, you can move money from your V account directly from your app or on an ATM using your V card. Follow the procedure to transfer funds as stated on the machine and rest easy. The important thing to remember is that you can use your V card on any ATM.
- Pay your utility bills
Be it your electricity bill, cable TV bill, association dues, water bills, etc, your V card will help you make payments on all these consumer services. Again, locate the nearest ATM kiosk or POS terminal, be ready with your PIN and you won’t have to spend hours standing in the scorching sun to make your utility bill payments.
- Make Online Purchases
Making online purchases is now easy with a V card as it is accepted by major online stores and merchants. Unlike purchases at a checkout counter, online purchases will be processed as a “credit” transaction, and funds will be deducted from your account.
