For the second consecutive year in a row, VFD Bank is sponsoring 50 women to learn and master the African music business landscape in the 2023 cohort of the Music Business Academy for Africa, founded by Sony Publishing Managing Director, Godwin Tom. This is in line with our ACHIEVE brand position which focuses on empowering women to contribute their gifts and talents to the African workforce.
We recently hosted the sponsorship beneficiaries and the artists at our Marina office where we got to listen to new music from the upcoming album, hear their experiences in the academy and meet the artists one on one.
Speaking on the partnership with the bank, Group Managing Director for the MBA For Africa 2023 cohort, Anita Amangbo, shared a progress report on how the students have grown through the program and how this growth has equipped the beneficiaries to execute the talent project which involves creating an album with x artists from x companies in the cohort. “With Vbank’s sponsorship, I’m happy to see that we now have more women in rooms like this. It’s a testament of how far we can go when we commit to progress and change in the music business.”, she commented.
Following this, the students and artists hosted an exclusive listening session for their official single of the cohort called Different Feeling. A major part of their grades as students in the MBA For Africa, Different Feeling is a testament to the hard work and dedication displayed by the Vbank sponsorship beneficiaries.
The beneficiaries would also be working with the artists in the academy to create an official jingle for Vbank, which would go on to be another major sonic representation of the role of the partnership between Vbank and MBA For Africa. “From what we have listened to far, we are excited to hear what the students and the artists would work on for the bank. The sounds are fresh and we can’t wait for how the music would impact our brand positioning.”, Oluwaseyi Obanwo, Head of Products and Partnerships at VFD Bank, shared.
